Abstract

The LGBT+ individuals face prejudice and discrimination in their places of origin, which can lead to the migratory process. The LGBT+ immigrant is often unable to use already
established social networks for fear of stigmatization. Thus, they migrate to places that they believe to be LGBTfriendly. This investigation aims to analyze the migratory trajectories of
the gay population and the configuration of their social networks. It also investigates whether the use of already established social networks favors the process of identifying the “coming out of the closet”. The investigation was carried out using qualitative and quantitative methods as complementary approaches.
