This article proposes to reflect on crime processes and police investigations as historical sources for the study of daily life, as such documents express the socially constituted rules of conduct and, obviously, their transgressions. The narratives of defendants, victims, police officers, jurists and witnesses reveal the daily practices expected and those experienced by the subjects.
