Abstract

This piece aims at deconstructing the traditional epistemological relationship between the researcher and the “other” from favelas. The reader is here invited to an exercise in which the favela resident turns from object of study into subject of dialogue with the researcher. The article may help scholars trained by Eurocentric schools and public officials used to enforcing normative practices.
