Abstract

Abstract: This article aims to analyse the gender representations and discuss the issue of female authorship in The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas, Gertrude Stein. Based on the analysis of this work and also some correspondences, it is discussed the gender representations built by Stein and the importance of the study on the author within the areas of gender study and the women’s history. Furthermore, the contributions from the field of history of written culture and reading were equally relevant to the research’s formation.
