Abstract

The article analyzes sociability and audience experiences at 1970s Brazilian countercultural festivals. It investigates the audience profile, showing how interstate travel and unconventional aesthetics were tactics for questioning the order during the military dictatorship. It demonstrates these events' ambivalence: fueled by expanding consumption during the “economic miracle”, they generated tensions due to the transgressive potential of behavioral liberalization.

  • Igor Fernandes Pinheiro de Mattos (UFF), Fluminense Federal University

    Doutorando em História Social pela Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), na qual também obteve o título de Mestre em 2015, após concluir os cursos de Bacharelado e Licenciatura em 2012. Autor dos livros "Não fale com paredes" (2019) e "É isso aí, bicho!" (2013), ambos dedicados ao estudo da contracultura no Brasil. Integra o Laboratório de Estudos Interdisciplinares de Música e Cultura (Musilab), vinculado ao Programa de Pós-Graduação em Comunicação (PPGCOM/UFF) e o Núcleo de Ensino, Pesquisa e Extensão em História e Memória (NEPEHM/UEMG). Atua como professor na Secretaria de Estado de Educação do Rio de Janeiro. Possui experiência nas áreas de pesquisa e ensino de História, com ênfase na História do Brasil contemporâneo, especialmente nos temas de contracultura, ditadura militar e música.
