The article analyzes the effects of colonialism in Angola through the work Filhos da Pátria by João Melo. Two short stories were selected, which privilege the plurality of experiences and violence in the post-independence period. In the decolonial perspective, the dialogue between History and Literature makes it possible to understand the work as a political manifestation in opposition to subalternization and epistemic coloniality.
