The present article aims to investigate how cattle ranching and cattle supply routes connected the hinterlands of the Captaincy of Paraíba with Recife and the village of Goiana, both in Pernambuco, throughout the 18th century. These routes fostered the spatial and social mobility of the individuals involved, and allow us to understand the essential role of cattle production in the hinterlands for the supply of meat and leather to coastal populations, whether for consumption or commercial flow.
