Abstract

This study critically examined the regulation of artificial intelligence (AI) use in education journals, focusing on its ethical implications for authorship and academic labor from the perspective of Historical-Dialectical Materialism. An analysis of the editorial policies of ten journals revealed a regulatory asymmetry: plagiarism is strictly controlled through technical tools, whereas the regulation of AI use remains largely limited to disclosure requirements. It is argued that this configuration reflects the limits of a formalistic bourgeois ethics that is incapable of addressing the delegation of cognitive operations to machines and the resulting alienation of scientific labor. By turning texts into commodities and relegating the formative process to a secondary role, these guidelines reinforce academic productivism and intensify the precaritization of academic work, thus calling for a shift toward an institutional ethics of intellectual labor.
