Abstract

This essay proposes an understanding of educational experience as intrinsically narrative, in which the subject organizes and assigns meaning to his/her own trajectory. Adopting a hermeneutic-narrative approach, the text draws on qualitative, literature-based research largely grounded in the work of Paul Ricoeur. By bringing together the interpretation of educational scenes drawn from literature and the exegesis of philosophical and pedagogical texts, the study seeks to bring into view the connections between narrative and education through three moments: the call, which summons the student into the common world and raises the question of identity; the crossing, a process of meaning-making mediated by the teacher; and the farewell, which marks the student’s attempts to speak in a voice of his/her own.

Keywords: Narrative. Education. Narrative identity.
