COST ALLOCATION IN PUBLIC BUS TRANSPORT: AN INVESTIGATION OF METHODOLOGICAL APPROACHES AND INTERNATIONAL REGIONAL STANDARDS
Abstract
Given the ongoing challenges of ensuring adequate levels of quality in urban travel, improving the management of public transportation services, particularly concerning operational costs, has become increasingly essential. In this context, a systematic literature review of technical and academic sources is presented, covering different geographical regions and methodological approaches. This consolidation enables the analysis of the frequency of approaches and the depth of references to cost components. Regarding cost calculation methodologies, differences were observed between Brazilian documents, which use detailed fare calculation spreadsheets, and those from other countries, which rely on mathematical estimation methods. Furthermore, the fare calculation spreadsheets exhibit a greater level of detail in cost components compared to other methodologies, due to the use of detailed formulas and coefficients.
