Abstract

The main objective of this research is to problematize discourses about gender, femininities, and masculinities in the school context of Cariri, Ceará, from the students’ perspective. The research included 13 students from state public schools in a municipality in the state of Ceará, who participated in collective interviews conducted via a digital platform. We employed Foucault's discourse analysis to examine the empirical material. The results obtained evidenced the invisibility of sex education at school, as well as gender representations based on the biological and binary order, the nonrecognition of multiple femininities, masculinities
or other gender identities.
