Abstract

This article, grounded in theoretical reflections from various researchers and the perspectives of participants in the Movimento de Mulheres Camponesas (Rural Women's Movement) shared during the construction of a doctoral thesis, aims to analyze the importance of traditional knowledge and agroecology in the resistance efforts of rural women from the Movimento de Mulheres Camponesas of Santa Catarina (MMC/SC) against the hegemonic mode of production. Based on the premise that the MMC/SC rural women seek to build a new mode of production—and that this transformation can only occur if it originates from marginalized, excluded classes—these considerations become increasingly relevant in the present context. The discussions suggest a further step toward this future vision.
