OS “HOLANDESES” DE CARAMBEÍ: EM BUSCA DE (UMA NOVA) IDENTIDADE

Resumo

Carambeí, uma pequena cidade no interior do Paraná, é a primeira colônia holandesa do Brasil, fundada em 1911. E apesar de ser bastante antiga, até hoje temos a impressão de que saímos do Brasil quando vamos a Carambeí e conhecemos sua gente. Mas o que é fato e o que é impressão? Quem são os carambeienses? São holandeses ou são brasileiros? Considerando que essas questões ainda não foram suficientemente respondidas e que o município de Carambeí é bastante complexo cultural e lingüisticamente, neste estudo pretende-se discutir a identidade dos “holandeses” de Carambeí. De acordo com os dados coletados, no que diz respeito à identidade manifestada pelos “holandeses”, percebe-se que se estabelecem dois grupos distintos: o dos “brasileiros” (parte do Grupo 2F e Grupos 3M e 3F) e o dos “holandeses” (Grupos 1M, 1F, 2M, e parte do Grupo 2F).

Carambeí, a small town in Paraná, is Brazil`s fi rst Dutch settlement, founded in 1911. In spite of its being quite old, it seems as though one has left Brazil when visiting Carambeí and meeting its people. But what is fact and what is feeling? Who are the Carambeienses? Are they Dutch or are they Brazilian? Considering that these queries were not suffi ciently answered and that the municipality of Carambeí is fairly complex, both culturally and linguistically, this study intends to discuss the identity of the “Dutch” of Carambeí. In relation to the identity revealed by the “Dutch”, it is noticeable that two different groups are established there: the “Brazilians” (a part of Group 2F and Groups 3M and 3F) and the “Dutch” (Groups 1M, 1F, 2M and a part of Group 2F).
