Resumo

Este artigo tem por finalidade discutir o conceito de metaficção historiográfi ca e aplicá-lo ao romance Tropical Sol da Liberdade (1988), de Ana Maria Machado, obra considerada pós-ditatorial que narra a história dos anos de repressão e da juventude brasileira do pós-64, a partir da visão de uma mulher, a escritora Helena Maria de Andrade. O objetivo principal é descobrir se esse romance da literatura contemporânea corresponde às expectativas da problematização de seu objeto: a história do Pós-64. O estudo procederá de modo que se destaquem as características do romance, as quais permitem a discussão sobre a metafi cção historiográfi ca, além da análise da personagem protagonista, sob o aspecto social e  humano, que determina seu espírito ex-cêntrico/periférico.

The purpose of this article is to discuss the concept of “historiographic metafi ction” and to apply it to the novel Tropical Sun of Liberty (Tropical Sol da Liberdade-1988), by Ana Maria Machado, a work considered “post-dictatorial”, which narrates the history of the years of repression and of the “Post-64” Brazilian youth. It is based on a woman’s vision, the author Helena Maria Andrade. The main objective is to discover if this contemporary novel meets the expectations of the “problematization” of its object: the history of the “Post-64”. As the study progresses the characteristics of the novel stand out, which allows the discussion on the “historiographic metafi ction”, as well as the analysis of the main character in the social and human aspects that determine his “ex-centric/peripheric” spirit.
