Abstract

This article defends the meaning of education as the constitution of identity and condition of agency, under the responsibility of educational institutions in their processes and projects. Using a dialogical method, it engages in an interrelation with Zygmunt Bauman and Amartya Sen from a theoretical-educational perspective, generating two movements: first, it locates the meaning of identity in both theoretical paradigms; then, based on the interrelation between the concepts of identity and agency, it develops both a critique and a defense of education, with close attention to the challenges of building a common world.
