Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point Arial or Times New Roman font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

UniLetras journal does not charge fees for processing articles (APCs).

The manuscript submitted to this journal must bring important contribution in the ambit of current scientific research, promoting discussions, debates and the fortification of criticism in the fields of Letters.

UNILETRAS Journal welcomes manuscripts – in the genres article, essay, interview, review, document, testimony and translation – from authors with a minimum Master's Degree. Master candidates can submit their texts solely if co-authored with a Doctor. After publishing a paper in UniLetras, each author will solely be able to publish again in the journal after an interval of 3 issues.

a) The manuscript must be unpublished.

b) The paper must represent a relevant contribution for the specific field of investigation. It must present a consistent theoretical referential, clear and explicit arguments and language correction. It must prove that it has enough potential and consistency to be a reference for works of other researchers.

c) Extension: the articles must have from 10 (ten) to 20 (twenty) pages, single-spaced, Arial or Times New Roman font; inferior and superior margins of 2,0 cm and right and left margins of 2,5 cm; in a sheet of A4 format. The reviews must have between 4 (four) and 7 (seven) pages, with the same format, restrict to books that were published in the last 5 (five) years.

d) The texts can be written in Portuguese, English, French or Spanish. In the last 3 (three) cases, the texts must be followed by abstract and keywords in Portuguese.

e) Title: the manuscript must bring a title that corresponds clearly to the general idea of the work in Portuguese and English, or in the language that is chosen for the redaction of the article.

f) Abstract: maximum of 10 lines (150 words) and an abstract in English with equal value, containing information about the objectives, methodological procedures, theoretical references and results. The abstracts must present 3 (three) keywords.

g) In the case of articles elaborated from dissertations and thesis, it is necessary to indicate the name and the title of the advisor/supervisor.

h) In the case of the research being financially supported by some institution, it must be mentioned.

i) The works must be submitted without identification of the author, through the online submission system. We ask the authors to complete the full register (metadata) when submitting the article or review, including the ORCID iD (available at https://info.orcid.org/pt/. Accessed on: 26 Mar. 2023).

j) Beneath the graphic, chart, photograph and other images, there must be a reference to the source. In case of being elaborated by the author, it must be referenced as “elaborated by the author".

k) The bibliographic notes must follow ABNT.

The evaluation of the manuscript is conducted by peers, in a double blind review. UNILETRAS Journal will submit each original - without any identification of the authorship - to two members of the Editorial Board or to ad hoc reviewers, whose names will remain in secrecy. Based in the opinions issued, the Executive Council of the UNILETRAS might refuse or resubmit the articles to the authors, with suggestions, so they can provide the necessary alterations in the text and/or adapt it to the publishing rules of the journal.
