The objective of this work is to present the report of the research developed three years ago on the role of the semantic cases related to a certain aspectual class in written texts. It was noticed that the Appositive and the Nominal Predicate ensure assertions used by the text producer who intends to set liable information to what is expected by the interactional outline. This hypothesis has guided the reevaluation of the syntactic structures recognized by the traditional grammar either as accessories or simply as a syntactic nucleous with no semantic or pragmatic value. The functions of the Appositive and Nominal Predicate are described, so that a determined illocutionary act is accomplished in the written text environment. . A stage of the research that deals on the functionality of the transformation of nouns into adjectives in written texts is related. That is an attempt to review traditional grammars that tend to conceive this phenomenon in the syntactic field as something not so important; a hierarchic view of the terms when the sentence is being analyzed. The Appositive indicates information selected by the text producer according to several motives for several reason which may be set in the didactic, pejorative, flattering sense, etc. The Noun Predicate can be understood as an severation agreement act which links semantic case and aspectual class. This alters the notion that the verb to be is simply a linking verb, postulated by the traditional grammar.
Key words: appositive; nominal predicate; semantic case; aspectual class.
