"OUR BRAZIL": The construction of racial prejudice in a history textbook.
Abstract
This article aims to perform a Bakhtinian analysis of the relationship between curriculum content and discursive expression of patriotism and racial prejudice in the book Nossa Brasil, intended for the teaching of the 4th grade, where the curriculum is developed from a core in which Claudio, teacher, seizes the opportunity and turns the trip with their children (Dora and Luis) into a moment to reflect on the history and culture of northern and northeastern Brazil. We seek to understand how representations of statements that express racial prejudice and patriotism are associated with the ideas of collective memory and silence Pollack (1989) and thought in connection with the proposal of historical formation of a typology of Brazilian intellectuals, Santos (2004). This allowed us to understand how concrete expressions relate to life and to the specific means of production in which enunciative agents act.
