Goethe ocupava-se ao mesmo tempo da redação d’As Afinidades Eletivas (1809) e de seu estudo sobre a Farbenlehre (Teoria das cores, 1810), e deixou que sua mão de literato retraçasse suas concepções nas ciências naturais. O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar a análise das quatro personagens principais em suas relações interpessoais como elementos humanos dentro deste romance laboratorial.
