THE TERMINOLOGICAL DEFINITION IN HUMANITIES FROM A DIACHRONIC PERSPECTIVE: TRADUCTION IN GUSTAVE VAPEREAU
Abstract
This article presents a research on Diachronic Terminology, in which we sought to analyze excerpts from the definition of traduction in Gustave Vapereau’s Dictionnaire universel des littératures. From the notion of meaning environment, proposed by Finatto, it has been found that the presence or absence of certain elements in the definition used, could be better understood from a historical bias. The erasure of synonymy, polysemy and the naturalization of the current form of translation in the context of the dictionary’s author, are some conclusions that the research reached.
