ÁLVARES DE AZEVEDO GUILLERMO PRIETO E CLORINDA MATTO DE; A MISSÃO DO ROMANCISTA E A NARRATIVA DO SOBRENATURAL NO BRASIL, NO MÉXICO E NO PERU NO SÉCULO XIX
Abstract
Álvares de Azevedo em Noites na Taverna, Guillermo Prieto em Cuadros de Costumbres e Clorinda Matto Turner em Tradiciones Cuzqueñas, estabelecem uma relação com a chamada “missão do romancista”, categoria estabelecida por Afrânio Coutinho e Jorge Ruedas de la Serna. A “missão do romancista” diz respeito à tarefa do autor latinoamericano de configurar aquilo que era a representação de cada nação a partir dos costumes, da história e da representação de normas éticas. Com as experimentações narrativas, surge nesse cenário uma alta concepção estética que descreve situações fantásticas ou sobrenaturais. A missão do romancista e a expressão estética criam uma dialética entre a tarefa de definir uma identidade e a configuração imaginativa dos romancistas brasileiros, mexicanos e peruanos nas literaturas do século XIX.
