NAR-ANON E A ATRIBUIÇÃO DE EFEITOS DE SENTIDO À ORAÇÃO DA SERENIDADE

Abstract

Este estudo objetiva apresentar uma reflexão sobre a Oração da Serenidade, considerando as suas condições de produção específicas, ou seja, a apropriação que o Grupo Familiar Nar-Anon1 faz dela em suas reuniões. A oração é repetida ao final de todos os encontros do grupo de forma ritualizada, quando os integrantes da irmandade, de mãos dadas, a proferem juntos. Pode-se dizer que a oração, naquelas condições de produção, a partir de um discurso previamente conhecido (ela não é de autoria do Grupo) e sendo enunciada pelos que a praticam – familiares e amigos de adictos –, reveste-se de efeitos de sentido particularmente simbólicos em relação àquela situação. Por meio da oração, ousasse dizer, do discurso, tem-se a crença numa manifestação de poder (como em qualquer manifestação espiritual), como o de devolver, aos familiares e amigos de adictos, paz e serenidade diante das aflições e angústias em que se encontram aqueles que convivem com o problema das drogas. É nesse contexto que se situa o corpus em análise, e é a partir dele, naquele espaço de interlocução, que ele passa a agir persuasivamente sobre os seus interlocutores, fazendo-os aderir a uma forma de pensar e agir em relação a problemas específicos daquele Grupo.

This study has the objective of analyzing the “Oração da Serenidade” (Serenity Prayer), taking into consideration its specific conditions of production, that is, its appropriation and use by the Familial Group Nar-Anon during their meetings. The prayer is repeated at the end of the groups’ meetings, in a ritualized way, when all the integrants of the brotherhood, holding hands, chant it together. It can be said that the prayer, in such conditions, with a speech previously known (it was not written by the Group) and being enunciated for those who practice it - relatives and friends of drug addicts -, is permeated by a particularly symbolic effect in relation to that situation. Through the prayer, more specifically the discourse, there is a belief in a manifestation of power (as in any spiritual manifestation), such as to give back to the relatives and the friends of addicts, peace and serenity when facing the afflictions and distresses that involve those who face drug problems. It is on that context that the corpus of this analysis is focused, and it is in that interlocution space that it finds evidence on how this behavior acts persuasively on the interlocutors, leading them to adhere to a way of thinking and acting concerned with the Groups’ specific problems.
