Abstract

The purpose of this article is to provide an overview of some concepts and methodology used in the analyzes conducted by Critical Discourse Analysis - CDA, with emphasis on the approach proposed by Fairclough (2001, 2003) and the theoretical methodological framework of Chouliaraki and Fairclough (1999). From this perspective, it is understood that a discursive interaction within networks of contemporary social practices, is strongly influenced by social structures, both reproduce discourses from hegemonic groups and constructed discourses that can enable the empowerment of minority groups. In order to understand the dynamics of discursive representations, the ideological traits present in texts and their effects on social life, it is essential to conduct linguistic analyzes integrated with sociological analyses. Studies in CDA seek to carry out reflections that reveal oppressive practices, and, mainly, that enable the empowerment of subjects who find themselves in these conditions.
