The aim of this essay is to point out that since “Com licença poética”, the opening poem of “Bagagem”, her first book, Adélia Prado has revealed her awareness of having inaugurated a particular kind of poetics within the realm of Brazilian poetry. One of the defining marks of this specificity lies in the process of constructing the lyrical subject, which unfolds into two main “personae”, the figure of the ordinary woman, the housewife and mother, and the figure of the poet, of the author.
Key words: poetics, Brazilian poetry, Drummond, lyrical subject
