LANGUAGE POLICIES AND THE TALIAN LANGUAGE
Abstract
Considering that the presence and use of a language is a political issue, it is language policies that determine which languages can or cannot be used in certain situations, as well as how languages are promoted or prohibited. Since the period of colonization, the relationship between the people who were born here and the people who arrived here has been marked by conflicts over power struggles. In this sense, this article proposes an approach to the concept of language policies, contemplating a historical overview of the issue, emphasizing moments that marked the political and administrative scenario in Brazil, as well as actions that influenced the use of the language(s) in the country. Furthermore, aspects related to the Talian Language will be highlighted as a concrete example of the implementation of in vitro language policies throughout history.
