Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze how othering is reflected in the relationship between Nazis and Jews in the novel by the Irish author John Boyne, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas (2006). The paper also intends to investigate Spivak`s type of othering (1985) exemplified by Bonnici (2005): physical exploration of the territory, denigration of the native and the gap between colonizer and colonized. As support for the analysis the theoretical studies about Post-Colonial theory such as Spivak (1985) and Bhabha (1991) will be used.
