The inclusion of deaf people in regular schools has produced different discussions that have been marked by a history of segregation, which does not consider the uniqueness of these subjects, as the results of the current teaching-learning method evince. Aiming at recognizing the relation of the deaf with the written Portuguese language, texts produced by students of a public school were analyzed under the psychoanalytic perspective, which considers the subject as an effect of the language. This point of view opens up a locus of opposition to the methods of observation, to the marginalization of what is singular, and to the notion of development. The psychoanalytic theory allowed us to question the relation body/language, the psychic structure of deaf children, the body inscriptions, and the effects of these aspects on written texts. Based on a hypothesis on the origin of writing we can say that writing acquisition depends on the subject`s psychic structure, and not only on educational proceedings.
