Abstract

The present work aimed to analyze the sustainability indicators of organizations related to reverse logistics (selective collection) located in the city of Uberlândia - MG. It also seeks to know the process and the flow of materials and information of organizations; identify the advantages they find operating in this market; and identify the main difficulties related to the reverse operation of organizations. The research is characterized by being descriptive, having as object of study multicases, being organizations and associations of waste pickers / recyclers of the city of Uberlândia - MG. Data were collected using primary and secondary data. Initially, secondary data from websites and specialized articles on the subject. Subsequently, primary data of the on-site collection performed in September/October 2021. A form was used as an instrument for data collection, with the Selective Collection Management Manual and The Organization of Waste Pickers (BENSEN et al., 2017). The analysis variables were based on chapters 6 and 7, composed of sustainability indicators. The results showed that the points of opportunity are related to: the disposal of glass; external partnerships; and the union between the associations to strengthen this market. On the other hand, the points of difficulties are related: to the ignorance of the population to separate the recyclable materials properly, which decreases the amount of material discarded; strategic management adopted by each organization; the need for external partnerships to increase the flow of collected materials. Finally, management, organization, strategic vision and partnerships are fundamental for organizations.
