Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  •  

    1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).

  •  

    2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.

  •  

    4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.

  •  

    5.The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.

  •  

    6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

 

ABOUT REVISTA CONEXÃO UEPG: 

 

1. Revista Conexão UEPG is an initiative of the Outreach Projects and Cultural Affairs Office of Ponta Grossa State University.

 

2. It aims to strengthen the university and society bond by publishing articles, which are the results of outreach projects carried out in all academic fields.

 

3. The journal is published every four months: in January – January-April (n° 1); in May – May-August (n° 2); and in September – September-December (n° 3).

 

4. Author(s) may submit a manuscript at any time.

 

5. The names of all authors should be deleted from the paper in order to ensure anonymity in order to fulfill the criteria of Peer Review Process.

 

6. The names of all authors should be included in the submission system since it will not be permitted its inclusion after the paper is reviewed.

 

7. There are no restrictions regarding number of author(s)/co-author(s) per article. The author who submits the article is responsible for ordering the others authors accordingly. 

 

8. If the responsible or coordinator of the outreach project is not one of the authors of the paper, he or she should be listed as a co-author. The author responsible by the submission of the paper is responsible for informing him or her about it

 

9. The author/co-author who has published a manuscript in Revista Conexão UEPG could only have a new one published after two years. The submitted manuscript, however, can be considered for publishing if there were not enough papers submitted to that issue.

 

10. In case of more than one submission by the same author, only one manuscript will be sent for peer review.

 

11. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.

 

12. By submitting an article to Revista Conexão UEPG and having it approved, the authors agree to assign, without compensation, the following rights to the Journal: the rights of first publication and the rights to redistribute the article and its metadata to the indexing and reference services that the editors deem appropriate.

 

13. In case of translation into another language or republishing, the author(s) should inform the Editorial Board. 

 

14. This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. Its content is under license of Creative Commons Attribution License

 

15. Revista Conexão UEPG is an open access journal and follows the guidelines of Budapest Open Access Initiative. Thus, the readers are free to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself. The only constraint on reproduction and distribution, and the only role for copyright in this domain, should be to give authors control over the integrity of their work and the right to be properly acknowledged and cited.”

 

16. Revista Conexão UEPG has two sections as follows:

 

  • EDITORIAL – contributions requested from experts of related areas, indicated by the Journal Editorial Board.
  • ARTICLES - analytical texts resulting from studies and reviews on topics related to outreach projects as well as experiences developed within the thematic areas established for outreach projects.

 

17.  The manuscript should not be published earlier and should present a relevant contribution for the specific field of investigation, according to the thematic areas established for outreach projects. It should present consistent theoretical background, clear and explicit argumentation and its spelling and grammar should be correct. The article should have the potential and consistency to support other outreach articles.

 

18. The manuscript should be not under consideration by other journals.

 

19.  The manuscript should be the result of an outreach project and, preferably, written in Portuguese. Articles in French, English and Spanish will also be accepted. In this case, an abstract in Portuguese and in English should be included.

 

20. Photos, pictures and/or charts, maximum six, should be inserted in low resolution. The images copyrights as well as permission to use people’s image is the author’s responsibility.

 

21. The authors should send the manuscript to one of the members of the Journal Language Review Team listed at http://www.revistas2.uepg.br/index.php/conexao/about/editorialTeam The manuscript will only be published if the Editorial Board receives the confirmation that the manuscript´s spelling and grammar are correct, which should be sent by the professional who reviewed it.

 

22. The article will be reviewed by experts on outreach projects in several thematic areas from national and/or international institutions.

 

23.  The review is through blind peer review in which neither the authors nor the reviewers know each other's identity.

 

24. The manuscript is sent to two members of Consultant Board. If the opinions diverge, it is sent to a third consultant.

 

25. The Editor and Consultant Board have full authority over decision on the relevance of the study to the outreach field. They may return the manuscript to author(s) with suggestions so that it is published only if the necessary modifications are fulfilled. In this case, the manuscript will be sent to a second round review. If the Editor and/or Consultants understand that the suggestions were not fulfilled, the manuscript is not published.  

 

26. The journal has policies for screening plagiarism and self-plagiarism.  If it is detected, the manuscript is not published.

 

27. If plagiarism is brought to light after the manuscript has been published, it will be conducted a preliminary investigation. If is the case, the journal should publish a statement about it. Misconduct will be reported to the university in which the author(s) developed the project/program.   

 

28. The Consultant Board is advised to check ethical issues established by The Scientific Integrity Board of Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Tecnological Development – CNPq

 

29. After the peer review process, the manuscripts that meet all criteria are sent to Editor Board. It has full authority over decision on the articles that will be published at each issue taking account the relevance of the study as well as the multidisciplinary.

 

30. The review process may take three months. It includes the time for the first review; the time for authors make the necessary changes; the time for second review. It can eventually takes more than three months due to unpredictable causes.

 

31. The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party. The manuscript is considered a confidential document. It is not permitted to the consultants/editorial board to circulate it before it is published.

 

32. The references should be listed alphabetically by the author's last name according to ABNT (NBR 6023/2002). The reference accuracy is the author's entire responsibility.

 

33. The author(s) is(are) legally responsible for the information provided. Any information accuracy, fraud or irregularities are his or her responsibility, exempting the Ponta Grossa State Univeristy from any publication claims.

 

34. In submitting a manuscript to Revista Conexão UEPG, the author(s) agrees with the terms of Author Guidelines.

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION

 

1. Papers should be sent electronically through the link

2. By submitting an article to the Revista Conexão UEPG, authors are first asked to check each item on the Submission Preparation Checklist as completed, before proceeding. The list is presented below. All items on the list will require a checkmark before authors can proceed with their submission.

 

  • The manuscript is not published earlier or under consideration by other journals.
  • The text format should be doc, docx or RTF, not more than 2MB.
  • The manuscripts should be submitted according to the following structure: Arial Font, size 12; left, right, bottom and top margins should be 2,5 cm; justified alignment; the character space should be 1,5 between lines, 1 between blank lines, texts and examples, quotations, charts, photos, etc;
  • The manuscript follows the guidelines described by ABNT (NBR 6023/2002).
  • The manuscript consists of 12 (twelve) minimum and 24 (twenty-four) maximum pages, including attachments and references.
  • The abstract, in English and in the paper language, should assure accurate information related to the outreach project method, results and conclusion. It should be in Font Arial 10, left alignment, started by the first word, maximum 150 words. The keywords and the abstract should be in English and in the language of the paper. The keywords, maximum five, minimum three, should be separated by semicolon. The keywords, in English and in the paper language, should follow the abstract.
  • The paper should have an introduction and should describe methods, results and conclusions. The topics and sub-topics should be presented in lower case, not numbered and not bolded. It is mandatory to detail the outreach project in the paper.
  • The names of all authors were deleted from the paper in order to ensure anonymity in order to fulfill the criteria of Peer Review Process.
  • The names of all authors are included in the submission system.

 

3. By submitting an article to Revista Conexão UEPG, authors are also asked to check each item on the Copyright Notice, before proceeding. The list is presented below. All items on the list will require a checkmark before authors can proceed with their submission.

 

  • Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.
  • By submitting an article to the Revista Conexão UEPG and having it approved, the authors agree to assign, without compensation, the following rights to the Journal: the rights of first publication and the rights to redistribute the article and its metadata to the indexing and reference services that the editors deem appropriate.

                                    

 

 

GUIDELINES FOR ARTICLES ACCEPTED FOR PUBLISHING

 

1. The authors should send the manuscript to one of the members of the Journal Language Review Team, according to the item 21 of Guide for Authors.

 

2. The name of all authors should be listed in the final version as well as the footnote with their academic information.  The author who submits the article is responsible for the information about all authors. The fooftnote about authors should have the folowing information:

  • Affiliation (Professor at – institution name), State – Country. E-mail
  • Affiliation (Student at – institution name), State – Country . E-mail

 

3. The illustrative images should be submitted, by e-mail, to revistaconexao@uepg.br. They should be in JPG, high-resolution and separated from the text.

 

4. Pictures, tables, graphics and charts should be inserted in its respective place. It should be added a titled and numbered with Arabic numerals. Example: Picture 1 – Title; Table 1 – Title; Graphic 1 – Title; Chart 1 – Title

 

5. Pictures, graphics, tables and and charts subtitles should be placed right below the inserted item, unabbreviated, Font Arial 10 font, single line spacing, normal typeface. Example: Source: Field Research or Picture 1 – description.

 

6. The footnotes should be numbered, Font Arial 10 and typed at the bottom of the page. The footnotes should not be used to references. The references should be listed at the end of the manuscript.
