In no-till production systems, farmers can leave areas in fallow until the next crop season. To avoid the disordered proliferation of unwanted organisms during this period control practices can be carried out. The aim of this study was to measure the impact of autumn/winter management on the proliferation of the white-mold plant disease (Sclerotinia sclerotiorum), with farmers in the Campos Gerais region (PR). Data were obtained through an action developed by the Agricultural Mechanization Laboratory at the State University of Ponta Grossa (Lama/UEPG), which implements rural extension activities in the region of Campos Gerais (PR) to allow interaction between farmers in the region and UEPG. The experiment was carried out in a randomized block design with 02 treatments and 16 repetitions. The treatments consisted of areas with and without autumn /winter management. The number of wild radish plants (Raphanus raphanistrum), sclerotia and apothecia structures per square meter were evaluated. Wild radish was chosen because it was the main host plant of the white mold in the relevant period. The sclerotia are precursors of hyphae and apothecia of the white-mold disease. The apothecia are the fruiting bodies of the fungus. Sixteen rural areas were considered as repetitions. In discussing the results with farmers, the importance of carrying out the autumn /winter management to restrict the proliferation of white mold was recognized. The results of this study highlighted the important space of formation and approximation between the university and the complex rural environment, achieved through rural extension actions.References
