TRANSPERSONAL CARE AS A WELCOMING STRATEGY TO FAMILIES IN PALLIATIVE HOSPITALIZATION: A POSSIBLE EXPERIENCE

Abstract

This article is an experience report describes the implementation of Transpersonal Care to a family system experiencing palliative oncological hospitalization. The experience described is part of an outreach action of the Multidisciplinary Family Welcoming Group carried out by Nursing and Psychology undergraduate students. The three-month action provided to a family facing palliative oncological hospitalization took place in a referral general hospital. The results involved researching the family followed by diagnoses and actions to meet the following transpersonal care: the use of images to stimulate the expression of feelings - emotional care; the use of images related to facts and myths about the pathology - educational action oriented to intellectual care; touch/comfort massage - physical care and reflective questions and music - spiritual care. Welcoming families in palliative oncological hospitalization is effective in systematized care actions and it is expanded in the light of the systemic-transpersonal approach.
