Abstract

Ballroom dancing has healthy benefits for the health and quality of life of senior citizens, as it enables active aging and sociability. This paper reports an outreach experience of medical students in the Collective Health III subject and senior citizens to discuss workers´ health and ballroom dancing. Two students reported actions carried out in 2018, with a group of senior citizens in a community center linked to the Family Health Center that develops Collective Health practices. The role of outreach activities in the Medicine course includes forms to respect, listen and interact through dialogue and human contact. Correlating the themes of workers´ health and the senior population was of great value for the education of future medical doctors. The activity provided rescuing social relationships, providing active aging and the exchange of knowledge.
