This article reports on the assembly of a virtual newspaper library, as part of the “Rede de Saberes Jaraguenes” action, linked to the Extension Program of the State University of Goiás. The newspaper library was created through the donation of a collection of newspapers, containing 194 copies printed by 13 different publishers, covering 3 decades (1984-2015). These newspapers were part of the collection of a resident of the city of Jaraguá, in the interior of Goiás, which is a historical context, characteristic of the 18th century, and where the extension was developed. Pierre Lévy's concepts of virtualization and cyberspace supported the action in theoretical-methodological terms. The article highlights the engagement with the principles of university extension and its curricularization aimed at promoting citizenship, social development and the construction of participatory actions connected with local reality.
