Abstract

Extension projects provide a dialogue between the university and society in a constructive and collaborative way. The selective collection of solid waste is the objective of the extension project: Ecoponto UERJ, in operation since 2019 on the regional campus in the city of Nova Friburgo. The experience report presented uses quantitative data collected over the five years of operation of the project. It is possible to identify the location of members, their changes in behavior, as well as the quantity by type of waste collected. Around 16 tons of waste were diverted from the city's landfill over the last five years. Some difficulties are routine, such as the appropriate use of collectors by associates, despite implementing different forms of communication in the project. Even so, the project can be considered a great success as it adequately transports various types of recyclable and reverse logistics waste.
