The extension project “Development of Awareness Campaigns on Diseases Transmitted by Aedes aegypti Mosquitoes” was developed in 2024 by professors and students from the State University of Minas Gerais, Passos, Minas Gerais, Brazil, and is relevant due to the high prevalence of the disease in the state that year. The project aimed to guide, educate, and inform students, teachers, and staff of Elementary School II and High School of state schools about prevention, symptoms, treatment, and impact of the disease on the population of the municipality. Discussion groups and lectures were held. The development of the project expands the training of academics and the school community. Given the scenario of a strike by public institutions in 2024, commitment and resilience were necessary to conduct the project and meet initial expectations. Despite obstacles to the development of the project, alternatives were found to disseminate the proposed actions and information. There was an exchange of knowledge between participants and academics.
