This study is part of the extension project “follow-up of patients in the vascular surgery outpatient clinic” and investigates the use of electronic cigarettes among medical students, analyzing the epidemiological profile, social influences and perceptions on the subject. Through a qualitative and quantitative approach, medical students were invited to complete a questionnaire via Google Forms. It was observed that the majority of the population is male (50.20%), and one third of the sample is between 20 and 22 years old. 44.02% of the total sample reported having used EC, with a higher prevalence among men (61.11%). The research highlights that male gender, the pandemic context, family factors and age impact the use of EC, especially at the beginning of academic life, revealing concerns for public health, medical practice and the need for preventive and educational strategies aimed at this target population.
