PERMANENT EXTENSION PROGRAM: IMPLEMENTATION OF ACTIONS FOR PROMOTION, PREVENTION AND INDICATION OF ORAL HEALTH TREATMENT IN THE CITY OF BARRA DO JACARÉ-PR: EXPERIENCE REPORT.

Abstract

The county of Barra do Jacaré-PR has only one health establishment with outpatient care. The Oral Health Project, a permanent extension program entitled “Implementation of Oral Health Promotion, Prevention and Treatment Indication Actions in the Northern Region of Paraná”, proposes the integration of professionals with the target population to present the importance of oral health . As a methodology, it provides instruction in macro models, supervised brushing, lectures and theaters. The present report aims to describe the activities and practical scenarios of academics' work with educational/preventive purposes for the promotion of oral health. As a result, a significant change in the habits of the target population was observed with regard to the prevention of diseases and complications in oral health. It is concluded that the biggest impact caused by the project was the dissemination of knowledge and oral health instruction in a municipality with a low HDI.

Nicole Christine Luiz Lopes , Universidade Estadual do Norte do Paraná (UENP)

Graduated from high school at Escola Estadual Professora Maria do Carmo Arruda da Silva, where she participated in volunteer projects focused on teaching mathematics to children. Is currently a student of Dentistry at the Universidade Estadual do Norte do Paraná (UENP).

Scholarship holder for two consecutive years (2023–2024) in the projects “Expansion and Strengthening of Actions for the Promotion, Prevention and Indication of Oral Health Treatment in the city of Barra do Jacaré-PR” and “Expansion and Strengthening of Actions for the Promotion, Prevention and Indication of Oral Health Treatment in the city of Congonhinhas-PR”, promoted and financed by the Secretariat of Science, Technology and Higher Education of Paraná (SETI).

Also worked as a scholarship holder in the Oral Health Project and participates in the Oral Cancer Prevention Project, developing health education, prevention and early diagnosis actions.

Participated in student representation in the Dentistry course, acting as a student representative and collaborating in the dialogue with the institution.

Ana Clara Martins de Souza, STATE UNIVERSITY OF NORTHERN PARANÁ

Undergraduate in Dentistry at the State University of Northern Paraná (UENP) - Jacarezinho Campus, expected to graduate in 2026. During my studies, I volunteered at Operação Rondon Paraná 2024. I was a scientific initiation scholarship holder in the project 'Expansion and strengthening of actions for the promotion, prevention and indication of treatment in oral health in the city of Barra do Jacaré, PR' (2023-2024). In addition, I have been a volunteer in the extension and research program 'Grupo Odontologia e Autoestima' (GOA) since 2022 and previously worked as a scholarship holder in the 'Education through Work for Health Program' (PET-Saúde) in 2022. My training is marked by a solid interdisciplinary and multiprofessional experience in the health area. In addition, I participated in a virtual mobility program at Universidad Santo Tomás (USTA) - Bucaramanga headquarters, in 2023, where I deepened my knowledge in Oral Medicine in Sleep. Previously, I completed High School integrated with the Computer Technician course at the Instituto Federal do Paraná (IFPR) - Jacarezinho Campus (2018-2021), where I developed as a Final Course Project a 'School Transportation Management System' (2020)

Geovanna Rodrigues Antunes, STATE UNIVERSITY OF NORTHERN PARANÁ

Graduated in Dentistry from the State University of Northern Paraná (UENP), she was active in several academic activities. She was the founder and president of the Academic League of Anatomy and Pathology, participated in tutoring in the disciplines of Radiology, Dental Anatomy and Semiotics, in addition to participating in research and extension projects. During her undergraduate studies, she was a volunteer in the project “Expansion and Strengthening of Actions for Promotion, Prevention and Indication of Treatment in Oral Health in Northern Paraná”. Currently, as a dentist, she works as a scholarship holder in the project “Expansion and Strengthening of Actions for the Promotion, Prevention and Indication of Oral Health Treatment in the city of Congonhinhas-PR”, promoted and financed by the Secretariat of Science, Technology and Higher Education of Paraná (SETI).

Works as a general dentist, providing clinical care with an emphasis on dental surgeries, adaptation of the oral environment, health education actions, restorative dentistry, periodontics, urgency and emergency, as well as rehabilitation with complete dentures, removable partial dentures and third molar extractions.

PhD in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Traumatology from São Paulo State University "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" (FOA-Unesp - 2015-2018). Specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Traumatology from Equip Quixadá-CE (2016-2018). Specialist in Implantology from Facsete (2015-2017). Postdoctoral fellowship at São Paulo State University "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" (2018-2019). Specialist in Orofacial Harmonization from Facop (2020-2021). João Lopes Toledo Neto, STATE UNIVERSITY OF NORTHERN PARANÁ

Holds a degree in Dentistry from the University of Marília (1994), a Master's degree in Biological Sciences with a concentration in ANATOMY from the São Paulo State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho - UNESP - Botucatu (1999), a specialization in Surgery and Traumatology of the Maxillofacial Region from FOB USP - Bauru (1999), and a PhD in Oral Biology with a concentration in ANATOMY from UNICAMP - FOP - Piracicaba (2007). Also holds a specialization in Orofacial Harmonization from Faculdade do Centro Oeste Paulista (2021) and certification in Conscious Sedation with Nitrous Oxide and O2 from Instituto Evolve (2023).

Currently, is an Associate Professor C at the State Government of Paraná, teaching HUMAN ANATOMY at the Health Sciences Center CJ/UENP. Coordinates the University Extension Group "Oral Health - Implementation of Promotion, Prevention, and Treatment Indication Actions in Oral Health" at UENP and the Clinical Anatomy Study Group.

Served as Director of the Dentistry Clinic at the Health Sciences Center of UENP, Jacarezinho Campus - PR, and Coordinator of the Dentistry Course at UENP. Was Director of the Biological Sciences Center CLM/UENP. Member of the State Council for the Distribution of Cadavers of the State of Paraná (Vice-President 2017-2019 and President 2019-2022).

Ad Hoc Consultant in Applied Anatomy and Clinical Applications in Orofacial Harmonization. Has experience in the areas of Morphology and Health: Applied Clinical Anatomy and Stomatognathic System (research), Oral Health (Extension), and Orofacial Harmonization (Clinical).
