Abstract

This article aims to discuss the contemporary directions of university extension in Brazil by analyzing the current centrality of entrepreneurialism in the academic space and its relationship with proposals derived from mercantilist logic. It seeks to outline important aspects for understanding this issue in relation to the current directions of Brazilian higher education. The text elaboration methodology included theoretical concepts about the facts that were selected for reflection. Different aspects of national scenarios were analyzed in different bibliographic sources in order to insert historically the struggle of this educational segment.
