RAISING AWARENESS ABOUT ORGAN DONATION THROUGH THE PROJECT “ADOPT A LIFE”

Organ donation is an act of solidarity and citizenship. It is absolutely important to save lives and to society as a whole. Thus, the extension project Adopt a Life aims to promote changes in attitudes and values in the academic institution and in society, developing educational interventions to raise consciousness among future organ donators on the importance of their attitude. Educational material were produced in order to present informative lectures in universities, schools and places that ask for it; visits to the local corneal bank were made; two educational campaigns were launched - on the National Day of Organ and Tissue Donation (September, 27), and during the Extention Exhibition of UNIFAL-MG (November, 13). The aims of these initiatives are to raise public awareness and dispel any doubt about the subject.
