RIGHTS: I HAVE! – AN EXTENSION EXPERIENCE WITH ELEMENTAR Y SCHOL STUDENTS

This paper reports experiences in extension actions undertaken by the staff of the “Rights: I have!” Project composed by a professor and students of Law College of State University of Ponta Grossa. The project goals are to introduce the main fundamental rights foreseen in the Constitution to elementary school students (8th grade) from public and private institutions of Ponta Grossa – PR, motivating a reasoned discussion and dissemination to the whole community, bringing to the concept of citizenship and its entire exercise. Through dialogue meeting, textbook exploration of and group dynamics, the group seeks to build political and social consciousness in involved adolescents. In front of partial results it’s possible verify the participants’ great interest on the subject, and it shows they have a brief idea about fundamental human rights without understanding its implications and legal and social consequences.
