This study describes and analyses some experiences that occurred during the development of the project O cinema como experiência critica na sala de aula em Palmelo-GO, in 2011-2012. It is linked to an extension program of Goias State University promoted by PRE. The aim of this paper is to explore the potentiality of using films in classroom. It takes into consideration that the historical concepts that appear throughout the film narrative allow history teachers (and teachers of related subjects) to use films with high school students in order to establish a pedagogical dynamic that provide them a critical experience of modernity and help them to discuss diverse topics shown in films. As a result, the history and other subjects become more attractive to the students. This project is developed in partnership with Colégio Estadual Euripedes Barsanulfo de Palmelo-GO to support teachers that teach history and related subjects, as well as helping high school students regarding discussions/problematization about a variety of films and videos.
