COMPLEMENTARY THERAPY: AN EXTENSION PROJECT

This paper presents the experience of conceiving and implementing an extension project using complementary and integrative therapies to the community of a public university, in Bahia. The participants of the project, which involves two departments of Feira de Santana State University (UEFS), are teachers of Nursing, Medicine and Letters, volunteer scholarship holders and students of unconventional therapeutic disciplines. The project develops complementary therapies to the university teachers, students, staff and external community, through UATI (Open University of Third Age) and through scientific events. In events, the Space Anti-Stress assisted 244 people and 358 complementary therapeutic practices were done. Besides that, 28 elderly people were assisted and 151 sessions of massage therapy were done through the project partnership with the Open University of Third Age (UATI). The implementation of this extension project and its results highlight its importance to the community.
