EXTENTION PROJECT ‘NÓS NA REDE’: THE DENTISTRY IN THE HEALTH PROMOTION

Abstract

This study aims to present the experience of the extension project Nós na Rede, an initiative of the Dentistry Department of Ponta Grossa State University (UEPG). It was designed to supply the lack of policies to the local community regarding oral health and provide to the dentistry students experience of a new dental care practice in collective health. The practical of this extension action is linked with the guidelines of the National Health Promotion Strategy and the Health Education. The results achieved are related to the link with local and regional social facilities, research, creation and development of products, and the commitment to university training. The project Nós na Rede is innovative and extremely relevant since it promotes actions that help to overcome obstacles in the field of oral health.
