Keywords:
Cultural Identity. Folias de Reis. Tourism.Abstract
The purpose of this extension project is to investigate the Groups Folias de Reis in the city of Nova Friburgo, Rio de Janeiro. The project is developed in five steps: interviews, data collection, recording, availability of the material collected and implementation of an itinerant workshop. The goal of the study is to contribute to the preservation of the cultural event through tourist activity and it is intended to last one year. Based on the participants’ (Foliões) point of view, the project aims at registering the history, practices, knowledge and its peculiarities. Thus, we highlight not only the relation between the activity and cultural tourism but also the importance of Foliões’ awareness about tourism as one of the means for preservation.Downloads
