OUTREACH PROJECT “ILUMINE”: CLOWNS IN THE HOSPITAL ENVIRONMENT
Keywords:
Clowns, Fun, Health, Children.Abstract
Suffering during hospitalization periods includes experiencing pain due to diseases and, in particular due to the hospital routine. The environment that should express the harmonious work of amulti-professional team, dedicated to the well-being of patients, is cold and indifferent to the real needs of hospitalized patients. In addition to this, the relationship doctor-patient is distorted, distant and increasingly technical. The desire to humanize and transform hospitals into welcoming places triggered the development of the outreach project called “Ilumine” (Lighten Up, in a free translation). This project transfers the symbolic character of fun and humor of the clown to the hospital environment as the clown-doctor.Downloads
