Abstract

This paper presents the results of a project that was developed at the Universidade Federal do Pampa and in two State schools in Caçapava do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, and aimed to reactivate these schools Science Labs to develop Chemistry workshops with high school students, seeking to improve the quality of teaching and to contribute to both the students’ learning process and their social education. Therefore, the workshops were carried out as a strategy to teach Chemistry, through which the students were able to investigate, experiment and develop their own conclusions about the proposed activities. Eight Chemistry workshops were held involving different contents such as reactions, thermochemistry, solutions and organic compounds and were developed by students of the Exact Sciences Teaching graduation course. The results showed that experimentation improves the knowledge acquired in lectures, showing to be a valuable tool in the teaching of Chemistry.
