Abstract

This article is the result of studies, research and extension of GEPE – Study Group of Research and Extension Political Culture, which has started its activities in 2010, and in which takes part students from Social Sciences and Pedagogy Course of Federal University of Tocantins, campus Tocantinópolis. This study examines the extension experiences of social movements and university. It employed reference texts about the topic, bibliographical and participatory research, and presentation of texts by students. It was developed through extension activities in camp Padre Josimo and at the end it was organized the First Seminar on Social Movements and Political Culture. The results demonstrate that the practices of research and extension enables a diversity of changes on people’s perceptions about their political role regarding their claims in the society which they belong.
