Abstract

This paper presents the results of an outreach project developed at Federal Institute of Paraná in Irati Campus, during 2014 school year. In order to explore the potential of App Inventor to develop applications for calculations in tablets and smartphones with Android operating system, students were motivated to take part in research and outreach activities to develop instructional materials about the structures of applications to share with the community. Through the activities developed, it was possible to conclude that the application designer offers the possibility of contextualizing of the use of mathematics in computer resources as well as providing the development of algebraic thinking in students.
