THE V1 ELISION IN OLD PORTUGUESE: TWO PHONOLOGICAL APPROACHES
Abstract
The purpose of this article is to discuss two ways of phonological approaches in the treatment of the V1 elision process in Old Portuguese in Old Portuguese. We intend through the mapping and quantifying data, from medieval Galician-Portuguese songs, to verify the extent to which theoretical models contribute to the formalization and understanding of this phonological process. We then approach the explanatory benefits of the theoretical models presented.
