“Eu só mostrei que eu existo! Que sou Marivalda, filha de Xangô!”: Rainha Marivalda e sua luta contra o apagamento social através do Maracatu-Nação (Recife –PE)

Abstract

O artigo se dedica a pensar a relação entre espacialidade, cultura e identidade feminina negra e tem como objetivo compreender as territorialidades de Marivalda Maria dos Santos, rainha e presidenta da nação de maracatu Estrela Brilhante de Recife, e homenageada do Carnaval de 2023 pela Prefeitura do Recife. Esta pesquisa integra minha tese de doutorado e seus dados primários foram construídos através de metodologia qualitativa, aliando trabalhos de campo com viés participante a entrevistas semiestruturadas e conversas do cotidiano com meus interlocutores. A análise dos dados revelou que o maracatu­nação é ferramenta para o rompimento de invisibilidades socioespaciais e para a construção de autoestima de mulheres e comunidades negras.

Larissa Lima de Souza, Colégio Pedro II/ PPGG-UFRJ

Professor of Geography at Colégio Pedro II and PhD student in Geography (UFRJ). In Higher Education, she has experience as a professor of Geography Teaching Research and Practice subjects at the Faculty of Education of the Universidade Federal Fluminense (FE-UFF). She specializes in Teaching African History and has worked as a Geography teacher in the public school system since 2012. Currently, she is a contributing teacher on the Specialization Course in Education of Ethnic-Racial Relations in Basic Education (EREREBÁ) offered by Colégio Pedro II and a member of NEABI (Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous Studies Center) at the same institution; She also works as a researcher linked to the GEOPPOL group (Research Group on Politics and Territory) at UFRJ. His research interests and experiences relate to: Black Geographies; Geography and Music; Geography and Parties; Cultural Networks; Afrodiasporic cultures, especially Maracatu de Baque Virado; Afro-Brazilian African History and Cultures; Ethnic-racial Relations in Education; Teaching Geography; Geography and Gender; Political Geography; Decolonial Studies; Sustainable Food Systems.
